TrusTECH awarded £450,000 by Welsh Assembly Government

TrusTECH, in partnership with ANGLE Technology Limited, has been awarded a three-year £450,000 contract with the Welsh Assembly Government to roll-out a new health innovation management service across Wales.
The service, funded by the Welsh Assembly Government, will aim to identify, capture and exploit intellectual property (IP) and innovation from within the Welsh NHS. It will also advise health organisations on how best to use this wealth of expertise for the benefit of patients and the public.
Keith Chantler, Executive Director for TrusTECH said:
“Our previous experience working with NHS Trusts and Universities across Wales has impressed us with the levels of innovation which we have encountered. Our task, working together with our colleagues Angle Technology, is to establish a first rate NHS Innovation management service for the NHS in Wales which has the potential to bring benefit to patients.”
The project will be managed from Wales and the partnership is currently working to assemble a local team and implement operational systems on the ground.
Health Minister Dr Brian Gibbons said:
“This new service will help the health service in Wales take advantage of the many innovations being pioneered here. It is important that hospitals and other health providers are able to share ideas and benefit from any extra income they may generate. The extra money can then be reinvested to drive up standards and improve patient care."
