ACTNoW® Update
In December 2007, ACTNoW – the online clinical and device trial faciliation database expanded. It now includes the Yorkshire and Humber region and, in the first month, 97 researchers from the region registered on the site. The total number of registered clinical research experts across the North West and Yorkshire is currently 1025 from 82 registered NHS Trusts. Over the last nine months, the number of unique visitors to the site has increased three-fold and the number of registered users of the service has increased by 72 per cent.
Angela Parker, ACTNoW Database Manager, left ACTNoW at the end of 2007. TrusTECH® wishes Angela every success in her new position at the Dementias & Neurodegenerative Diseases Research Network (DeNDRoN). In January 2008, TrusTECH welcomed Matthew Hobbs to the ACTNoW team, as the Business Development Officer. Matthew has been appointed as part of the Knowledge Transfer Partnership Project (with Manchester University) to further develop the ACTNoW service.
ACTNoW is looking to recruit a database manager to maintain the database in the North West and to help extend coverage into Yorkshire and the North East. The post will be a part-time secondment for 1–2 days per week (initially for 12 months) and would suit someone with experience in NHS Research and Development.
