Health Technology Devices R&D Funding – 17th Call for Outline Proposals
The Health Technology Devices (HTD) funding programme is being brought together with other programmes and new investment to form the NIHR’s Invention for Innovation (i4i) research programme. As part of this continuing funding stream,HTD would like to invite submission of Outline Proposals for matched-funding support for R&D into innovative healthcare technologies, involving collaboration between industry, academia and the NHS.
Applications should concern the prototype demonstration of:
- Medical devices, including tissue engineering and trauma care devices;
- Devices that interact with other medical devices used in the NHS;
- Novel information technology that enables a significant improvement in the performance of healthcare technologies;
- Healthcare devices for use in the community and patients’ homes.
Government support is up to 50 per cent of the total project value, with the remaining support provided by the project’s industrial collaborators. Projects must contain at least one industrial collaborator and one research-based collaborator, and are limited to a maximum duration of 3 years. In addition, 75 per cent funding is available for technical feasibility studiesto explore the potential for afull collaborative research project. These studies are typically limited to a maximum project cost of £100K and maximum duration of 12 months.
Proposals must be submitted by no later than 5pm on Friday 19th September 2008.
