Do You Prepare Your Trust’s Annual R&D Report
– Would You Like to Adopt a Helpful PET?
The Publications Extraction Tool (PET) is a simple addition to the EPS Research Manager software used by many NHS Trusts to manage their research projects. The tool significantly speeds up the process of identifying and recording academic publications produced by researchers within a Trust. The PET uses simple search terms to search databases such as PubMed and MedLine to automatically identify publications attributable to a researcher or institution.
A simple user interface enables relevant publications to be speedily imported into the EPS Research Manager database. The tool was developed by LiFen Wang, a Research and Development (R&D) Co-ordinator (T: 0161 446 3965), and Bruce Moreman, a Medical Physicist, both employed at Christie Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
According to LiFen, “As a result of this development our publications data is more accurate and the Trust has saved money as we no longer have to employ temporary staff to undertake this task.”
The PET has now been adopted by the R&D departments of two large NHS Trusts in Manchester via a simple licence
agreement prepared by TrusTECH.
If you use EPS Research Manager and you think you can offer the PET a loving home, contact Dr James Corden TrusTECH Technology Manager (T: 0161 276 5782).
