Call for Proposals Under the EU’s Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (CIP)

The NHS European Office represents NHS organisations in England to EU decision makers.  The Office is funded by the Strategic Health Authorities and is part of the NHS Confederation. The Office provides information and assistance to NHS organisations on how to access EU funding and participate in European projects.

The European Commission recently launched a call for proposals under the EU’s Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (CIP). The CIP is divided into three strands and this call is part of the Information and Communication Technologies Policy Support Programme (ICT PSP).

The call has two eHealth topics which may be of relevance to NHS organisations:

·         ICT for patient-centred health service (funding for one large-scale pilot project): the aim is to use real-life settings to test the use of personal health systems, which involve innovative new types of telemedicine, and to prepare for their wider distribution and use.

·         Innovative eHealth tools and services in real life – learning together (funding for one thematic network): the aim is to support the creation of a network of organisations responsible for the procurement and implementation of eHealth services.

The deadline for proposals is 2 June 2009 (4pm UK time).
