Innov-age Issue 18 available now!
We are pleased to announce the release of the 18th issue of Innov-age magazine, which focuses on sexual health.
Innov-age features articles written by leading professionals from both within and outside of the NHS, sharing best practice and innovation and helping to improve the care and safety of older people.
In this issue, Mary Ni Lochlainn, Academic Clinical Fellow at King’s Hospital London, discusses sexual activity and ageing.
Hayley Wright, Research Fellow at Coventry University, gives us insight into sexuality and ageing research from the perspective of a cognitive psychologist. Research into exploring why sexual activity is linked to cognitive function can help to develop education strategies and interventions to promote healthy cognitive ageing.
David Lee, Research Fellow at the University of Manchester, debates the challenges and changes with sexual health and satisfaction in later life.
Kate Bennett, a specialist physiotherapist, talks through overcoming issues affecting sexual function and expresses the benefits of regular exercise on sexual function.
This issue also discusses inappropriate sexual behaviour in dementia. IntimAge – a new e-learning platform and toolbox for professionals – investigates sexual health in old age and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among the older population.
Innov-age is published quarterly in both print and digital versions. It has been launched by the Edward Centre for Healthcare Management Research, part of the Edward Healthcare group of companies. It is produced in association with TRUSTECH, MIMIT and MAHSC to promote excellence in elderly healthcare.
Edward Healthcare is an established care provider with elder care facilities in China and international investment in healthcare research.
Edward Healthcare set up the Manchester-based research centre in conjunction with TRUSTECH, the North West NHS Innovation Service, MIMIT (Manchester Integrating Medicine and Innovative Technology) and Manchester Academic Health Science Centre, to explore international care systems and industry best practice.
