Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) has established Manchester Health Ventures Ltd (MHV), to manage its portfolio of valuable intellectual property assets and to manage its innovation partnerships. MHV has been established as a wholly-owned company of CMFT with access to the commercial pipeline of one of the UK’s largest translational research hospitals.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced Director of IP & Business Partnerships who will provide the leadership and expertise to drive the development of MHV Ltd towards a fully commercial and sustainable business. Key responsibilities will include developing the company’s commercial strategy, managing the Trusts major business partnerships and increasing the flow in innovations from staff, partners and industry.
You will have significant experience in technology transfer, venturing or business development in the NHS or an academic environment overlaid with time spent in a commercial healthcare environment, ideally in a technology area. You will be able to develop and manage partnerships with external organisations and companies and will have experience at senior managerial level in managing staff, teams and contractors. A first degree in a life science subject is essential with a PhD in a life science subject an advantage.
The post will be based in Citylabs 1.0; a bio-health innovation centre on the clinical academic campus, at the heart of a large and growing cluster of medical technology and ICT companies.
