Nightingale – opportunity for SMEs

Nightingale is a Horizon 2020 programme aimed at companies with innovative wireless and wearable technology that can be integrated into a clinical decision support system. The project has received €5.3 million funding from the European Commission.

This is an exciting opportunity for large and small companies to work together to define and design the next generation of acute monitoring systems for both hospital and home settings in Europe to help reduce death and disability due to undetected deterioration.

The project team want to ensure that UK-based companies are aware that they are eligible to be a part of the programme.

Nightingale will offer the opportunity to work with global leaders in the field to develop, test and validate solutions in five major European hospitals (in Stockholm, Leuven, Utrecht, London and Aarchen).

The goal is to develop monitoring systems that are:

  • Wireless and unobtrusive
  • Intelligent, with low false alarm rates
  • Allow interaction by patients
