STEP INto Healthcare recognised in prestigious business awards
Health Innovation Manchester’s STEP INto Healthcare programme received a commendation in Bionow’s 2017 Business Services Award, which aims to highlight support business in the biomedical sector through commitment, professionalism and creativity.
Delivered in partnership by the Business Growth Hub and TRUSTECH, STEP INto Healthcare provides a structured programme of learning to help small or early-stage companies that are looking to enter the healthcare market with new products or services that could benefit NHS patients.
The free multi-day programme specifically aims to up-skill participants so that when they have opportunities to talk with NHS procurement teams they’re able to express the benefits of their solution in a clear and succinct way.
Additionally, the programme provides valuable insight into the NHS landscape within Greater Manchester alongside functions, opportunities and obstacles of local and national procurement.
The recognition highlights the impact that STEP INto Healthcare provides for the healthcare business community and combined with feedback from the companies that have participated demonstrates the value of the service.
One such company is U-drain, which offers an innovative urine drainage solution for automated peritoneal dialysis. Ged Murphy, Operations Manager for the company, speaks highly of the programme:
“STEP INto Healthcare allowed us to access the very best professional advice from health and care leaders in Greater Manchester. Sessions were wide-ranging and included: crafting an informative, but concise value proposition; the importance of developing partnerships; and how to construct and deliver a presentation to heads of procurement. One thing that stood out for me was the opportunity to test newly acquired pitching skills on a panel of actual NHS procurers, which provided vital feedback that we could use in meetings going forward. Since attending the course we’ve seen a significant increase in the number of peritoneal dialysis units adopting our solution. It’s a well-known fact that SMEs have limited opportunities to pitch to NHS heads of procurement, so given the chance it’s essential to have on hand the winning formula that STEP INto Healthcare provides.”
Ian MacArthur, Head of Sectors at the Business Growth Hub said:
“We were delighted to have been shortlisted for this year’s Bionow Awards. Our Partnership with TRUSTECH and Health Innovation Manchester provides a very solid platform for delivering real opportunities for innovative SMEs to have impact across Greater Manchester’s health economy. STEP Into Health care is a now a proven programme of support that provides unique opportunities for SMEs to meet directly with NHS partners and in turn showcases a wide range of innovations to NHS procurers.”
To date, nearly 30 companies have participated in the programme. If you are an early stage SME with a solution that could benefit the NHS, you could be next to STEP INto Healthcare.
