Sample Sorter
The Technology
Sample Sorter is a bespoke software program which aids in the loading, tracking, management and retrieval of pathology specimens..The software is a stand alone programme that has the potential to offer a practical and cost effective solution for pathology departments to sort and retrieve samples.Sample Sorter has been developed by a Chief Biomedical Scientist in a North West NHS Trust. It has been fully implemented within the Biochemistry and Haematology Departments of the host NHS Trust for a number of years and has been very successful in helping to organise over 20,000 specimens per week.

The Potential Market
Sample Sorter can be used in both NHS and non-NHS laboratories for the sorting and retrieval of samples.There are 350 NHS pathology laboratories in the UK each with four disciplines; thus there are 1400 potential departments that Sample Sorter could be used in.It is also envisaged that Sample Sorter could have a wider application where there are a large number of items that require filing and retrieving on a regular basis, such as medical records.
