Children’s cancer and technology innovation workshop
- Date & time: Tuesday 2nd April, 2019.
- Location: The Biosphere, Newcastle upon Tyne
This workshop aims to identify potential technology solutions that address unmet clinical needs in children’s cancer. There will be a focus on improving current triage systems and infusion pumps.
Despite improving survival rates, cancer is the leading cause of death in children and young people. There is a growing need for technology to support children and young people with cancer, as well as to support health care professionals to provide optimal care.
NIHR Children and Young People MedTech Co-operative is collaborating with the Academic Health Science Network for the North East and North Cumbria, MedConnect North, and Lab4Living to deliver a technology innovation workshop.
This workshop will bring together health care professionals, designers, engineers, businesses, academics, young people and families, policy makers, and commissioners. There will be a series of short talks and interactive sessions.
Attendance is invited from health care professionals, designers, engineers, businesses, academics, young people and families, policy makers, commissioners, and anyone with knowledge of children’s cancer or child health technology.
Attendees will be encouraged to form multi-disciplinary collaborations and project teams during the workshop. Project ideas generated during the workshop will be taken forward and jointly supported by NIHR Children and Young People MedTech Co-operative, the North East and North Cumbria Academic Health Science Network, and MedConnect North.
